Hurricane Safety

Hurricane Safety at Monarch Senior Living

At Monarch Senior Living, we understand the importance of being prepared for hurricanes, no matter where our community is located. The safety and well-being of our residents and staff are our highest priorities. Our comprehensive hurricane preparedness and emergency management plans are designed to provide peace of mind and ensure the safety of everyone in our care during the Atlantic hurricane season, from June through November.

Sheltering in Place at Monarch

Monarch Senior Living communities are built to withstand severe weather conditions, including hurricanes. Our facilities are equipped to shelter residents in place safely throughout a hurricane, with robust construction designed to handle high winds, heavy rains, and potential flooding.

In the event of a power outage, our team is ready to continue providing uninterrupted care and services. Our communities are equipped with backup power generators that maintain essential services, such as lighting, air conditioning, and heating. Additionally, our generators support kitchen operations and elevator use, ensuring the comfort and safety of our residents. We also maintain a minimum one-week supply of food and water for each resident to prepare for any disruptions in supply deliveries.

Communication During a Hurricane

We recognize how important it is to stay connected with families during a hurricane. At Monarch Senior Living, we are committed to keeping families informed with regular updates throughout any storm. Our website and social media channels provide real-time information, ensuring that families have the latest news and updates.

Upon move-in, we invite primary family contacts to join our emergency messaging service, which delivers crucial updates via text, email, or phone call. This service ensures that families remain informed and reassured, no matter the situation.

Short-Term Stays for Safety and Comfort

For many, Monarch Senior Living offers a safer alternative to staying at home during a hurricane. Our community’s reinforced construction, enhanced generator capacity, and 24-hour staffing provide added security and peace of mind. We offer short-term stays for older adults seeking a safe, comfortable place during severe weather, with access to essential supplies and personalized care.
